Much as we may think of Charles Darwin developing his Theory of Evolution while onboard the Beagle, he published his theories decades later. For much of his prime, he was actually focused on experimenting with and observing plants at his house in Kent. Indeed, Darwin was a brilliant and revolutionary botanist whose observations and theories were far ahead of his time, and as Ken Thompson points out, his ideas are often only now being confirmed by modern research.
